Gallium — Supply chain risk & CRMA compliance

Gallium is strategic for semiconductors, LEDs and 5G — and one of the most concentrated CRMA supply-chain risks. Around 84% of global refining sits in China; since tightened export controls, MOFCOM licences for 4N/5N material are often delayed by weeks. For European OEMs that means spot shortages hit production with little notice. The EU Critical Raw Materials Act requires diversification and documented due diligence; Germany's LkSG adds pressure for auditable risk checks across Tier 1–3. Procurement faces dual pressure: rising prices for gallium-bearing compounds and stricter compliance toward regulators and customers.
